Safe-Alert← HomeThe questions people actually ask before they rely on Safe-Alert. If yours isn't here, email support@usesafealert.com.

Yes. An alert leaves your phone over mobile data or Wi-Fi, and the SMS leg needs cell signal. In a complete dead zone the alert is held and sent the moment connectivity returns. Safe-Alert can't send anything from a location with no signal at all.
If you'd already triggered an alert and then lose your phone or it dies, our server keeps working: it continues notifying your contacts with your last known location and escalates a still-open security alert after 30 minutes. If the phone is fully off before you trigger anything, nothing can be sent from it — this is why the ring button and the arrival check-in timer matter, since they let an alert start without you unlocking the phone.
Safe-Alert runs on current iOS and Android. Keep notifications and background permission on, and battery optimisation off for the app, so alerts and the check-in timer aren't delayed by the OS.
No. The full protection — SOS, live location, contacts, check-in timer, family circle — works from the app alone. The ring adds a physical button you can press without touching your phone, plus the heart-rate signal behind Body State.
It's a Bluetooth accessory, so it has to be near your phone (roughly a normal room's range) for a press to get through. Battery lasts about a week per charge. It is water resistant for daily wear. It is not a standalone device — it needs the phone to actually send an alert.
Body State learns your resting heart rate over the first days of wear. A high reading is read in context — recent motion, how fast it rose — and Safe-Alert checks with you before anything escalates. You can also confirm "I'm fine, just moving" and it backs off.
It carries a manufacturing-defect warranty from the day you receive it, and Founding Guardians get preferential replacement terms. Details in the Trust centre.
Every trusted contact you've added and who has confirmed — by SMS and app push, with a live map link, typically within 10 seconds. Where the responder pilot is live (Lagos, FCT) a nearby verified responder is also notified. Check your state →
No. Safe-Alert does not dispatch police, ambulance, fire or rescue services, has no agreement with any of them, does not put your location into any emergency services system, and never contacts them on your behalf. What we do is show you who to call: the Nigeria Police Force publishes a control-room number for every state, and most people have never seen the list. Safe-Alert shows yours with a call button, next to 112, 199 and 767. You place the call.
Yes. There's a short countdown before an alert goes out, and after it's sent you can mark yourself safe, which tells your contacts it's resolved and stops location sharing.
No cap on real alerts. Practice runs are separate from real ones and are clearly labelled to your contacts so a drill is never mistaken for an emergency.
Yes. Free gives you the manual SOS and up to three emergency contacts. Paid plans add ring connectivity, unlimited contacts, live GPS streaming, the server "keep-going" monitoring, and Family. Pricing is on the home page.
Cancel any time; your access runs to the end of the period you've paid for. Refund requests within 14 days of a charge are reviewed case by case. The ₦10,000 ring deposit is refundable under published terms. See the Trust centre.
They're an in-app balance you earn from referrals and milestones, spent on renewals, the family plan, accessories and ring upgrades. They have no cash value, can't be withdrawn or transferred, and expire 12 months after they're earned. Full terms →
When your deposit clears we email you a one-time code (FG-XXXXXX). In the app, open Rewards → "Got a code?" and enter it to apply your numbered badge, 6 premium months and ₦5,000 Safety Credits. If you reserved with the same phone number you use in the app, it's applied automatically.
