What we do with your data — and what we can't promise
Safe-Alert only works if you trust it with your location and your contacts. This page is the plain version of how that data is handled, what you pay for, and the honest limits of an app-and-network safety service.
Your location
Shared only during an alert
Your live location is sent to your trusted contacts when an SOS or missed check-in is active — not before, not after.
You control who's in your circle
Only contacts you add and who confirm can receive your alerts. Remove them any time.
Stops when the alert closes
Once you mark yourself safe or resolve the alert, location sharing ends.
Family Circle is opt-in
Shared visibility in a family plan is set per member, with roles and permissions you choose. See Family Circle →
Encryption & storage
- Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- Account data and alert history are held in Google Firebase infrastructure with access restricted to Safe-Alert systems and reviewed staff.
- Location points are kept with your alert history so you and your contacts can review what happened, and can be deleted with your account.
- We do not sell personal data. Advertising and analytics tools on this website load only after you accept cookies.
- You can delete your account and associated data from the app or at this page.
Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Payments
- Subscriptions and ring deposits are processed by Flutterwave. Safe-Alert does not store your card details.
- Safety Credits are an in-app balance only. They have no cash value, can't be withdrawn or transferred, and expire 12 months after they're earned.
Refunds
- Subscriptions: cancel any time; access runs to the end of the paid period. Refund requests within 14 days of a charge are reviewed case by case.
- Ring reservation deposit (₦10,000): refundable under published terms, including if your size doesn't fit after we confirm it with you before shipping.
- Referral rewards tied to an order that is later refunded may be reversed.
Ring warranty
- The Safe-Alert ring carries a manufacturing-defect warranty from the date you receive it. Founding Guardians get preferential replacement terms.
- Warranty does not cover loss, deliberate damage, or normal battery wear over time.
- The ring is an accessory that makes triggering easier — the core protection is the app and your circle, and works without a ring.
Partners
- Flutterwave — payments.
- Google Firebase / Cloud — hosting, database, notifications.
- SMS routing partners — multiple Nigerian aggregators for redundant alert delivery.
- Verified responders — vetted individuals and teams in pilot areas, under agreement. This list grows state by state; see coverage.
What Safe-Alert cannot promise
- It is not a replacement for the police, an ambulance, or a licensed security company.
- Alerts need a phone signal or internet at the moment of sending. In a total dead zone, an alert can't leave your device until connectivity returns.
- We can deliver an alert quickly; we can't guarantee that a contact, a responder, or a public service will act, or how fast.
- Battery, device settings, OS restrictions, and network conditions all affect delivery.
- Partner-responder dispatch only exists where the pilot is live. Everywhere else, the alert reaches contacts and public services only.
